A cantor in a crisis of faith finds his world turned upside down when his grade school music teacher re-enters his life as his new adult Bat Mitzvah student.
Ben Gottileb is a grief stricken cantor who has never been sadder after losing his wife. Moving back in with his mums, they are eager for him to get back out there. When he has a chance encounter with Carla Kessler, his grade school music teacher, now 70 years old, the two develop an unusual friendship. As he becomes the teacher in their private bat mitzvah lessons, Carla and Ben help to bring each other back to life.
