Fifteen Selected members from Anglian Potters are brought together for this exhibition, which explores some of the numerous ways in which colour, surface pattern and decoration can be used by contemporary studio ceramicists.
Colour and surface decoration are integral elements of ceramic work. The clay a potter selects is chosen with care, from the rich deep red-brown of terracotta, through the warm yellowish buff of stoneware, to the pure white translucency of porcelain, and this ‘body’ affects any decorative glaze or stain that is then applied to the clay. Both must work together to form a harmonious union of elements to create a successful piece of work.
