Babylon ARTS Celebrates 25th Birthday at Babylon Gallery

Around 60 people gathered at Babylon Gallery to celebrate Babylon ARTS 25th birthday party on Wednesday 4th December.

The charity has been operating since 1994, providing arts events, exhibitions and creative community
projects across Ely and the wider area, as well as running Ely Cinema at The Maltings.

As part of the celebration there was a display of photographs showcasing some of the people and projects spanning nearly 25 years and a collection of over one hundred newspaper clippings from 1997 onwards, covering the wealth of activities delivered by the organisation.

The celebration was also an opportunity to thank all the members and volunteers who support Babylon ARTS’ work as Claire Somerville, chief executive said “Babylon ARTS is more than the sum of its parts. The team are very proud to work with all the members of the community who volunteer their time, to help make East Cambridgeshire, Fenland and West Suffolk more creative, vibrant and enjoyable places to live.
Here’s to the next 25 years!”

Several of those who attended the celebration were involved in setting up the charity at the start and expressed their appreciation for all the work that has been put in over the last 25 years, by the many people who have become trustees, volunteers or members and shown their support for making more art happen.
