On Tuesday 28th June, Cambridge based hip-hop dance company, Sin Cru arrived at Ely High Barns recreational grounds in their vintage VW campervan for a pop up performance. Over 90 people attended, including children of all ages from Ely St Mary's Junior School, for the after-school event, and the performance included five dancers.
Prior to the performance, Sin Cru delivered two 90-minute workshops with the Year 4 pupils at Ely St Mary's Junior School, encouraging them to create their own hip hop dance moves.
One audience member commented “Thank you for bringing the [performance] here this afternoon, it made me feel really happy!”
Chief Executive Claire Somerville said “We would like to thank Ely City Council and East Cambs District Council for the funding to make this event and the school workshops possible. We wanted to bring something fun and surprising to the High Barns area, as part of our ‘post-covid lockdowns’ cultural offer. Thankfully the sun shone as the dancers entertained the children and their families. I hope that everyone that attended has enjoyed the time with Sin Cru, and have maybe even been inspired to pursue dance in the future!”
