“I Am Because We Are"
Bethany Haysom took part in the Babylon Young Curators Programme, 2023; a professional development opportunity for young people aged 18 – 25. As a Babylon Young Curator, Bethany presented an exhibition called ‘I Am Because We Are’ at Babylon Gallery in Ely, from 29th June - 23rd July 2023
I Am Because We Are was an exhibition that focused on community, culture and humanity. It explored the philosophy of Ubuntu, a belief that as humans we have a responsibility to one another, and that we are a culmination of the people around us.
The artists featured in the exhibition were Àsìkò, Suchi Chidambaram, Suman Gujral, Madhu Manipatruni, Rosa Kelly, Olamide Ogunade, Isobel Scarsbrook and Alban Haysom.
