From July 2009 - March 2012 Babylon ARTS worked in partnership with the Cambridge County Council Office of Children and Young People Services to develop and deliver a programme of arts, crafts and performance activities across eight setting in four localities in Huntingdonshire:
- St.Ives & Wyton
- Huntingdon & Brampton
- St.Neots & Kimbolton
- Sawtry, Yaxley & Ramsey Villages
From Circus Skills to Street Dance, from African Drumming to DJing, from Jewellery making to T-Shirt Printing over 500 young participants – boys and girls – have had an opportunity to learn new skills and get involved with positive activities that they themselves had chosen. The youth-led approach which is the core of the programme gave young people a voice, a chance to express what they wanted in their centres enabling them to be more engaged with planning future activities. The funding from Cambridgeshire County Council has allowed us to bring in professional practitioners to youth centres, allowing them to share their skills and work alongside the young people. As part of the programme Babylon ARTS has been training and supporting Youth Workers as Arts Award Advisers. 21 locality youth workers have been trained as Arts Award advisers and 34 young people have achieved their Bronze and Silver Arts Award.
