As part of the Ouse Washes Landscape Partnership scheme funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Babylon ARTS were asked to create a series of murals to be displayed around the Ouse Washes region.
In 2014 Babylon ARTS commissioned professional artist Carolyn Ash to work alongside members of the public to produce three mosaics depicting the Ouse Washes landscape. To help develop ideas for these mosaic murals we asked people to send in their ideas on postcards - we had 150 returned! As well as having help from the public and our volunteers, Babylon ARTS engaged the following schools to help with the murals:
- Hilgay Primary
- Hillcrest Primary
- Denver Primary
- Upwell Community Primary
- Manea Primary
- Littleport Primary
The stunning murals have now been installed at the sites where they were created, Mepal Outdoor Centre, Denver Sluice and Welney Wetland Centre. Please go and have a look.
The Ouse Washes Landscape Partnership scheme was established to raise awareness and encourage greater local engagement with the washes. For more information visit: www.cambsacre.org.uk
